Molasses

Description

The residual liquor after crystallization and separation of sugar crystals from the cane or beet juice, usually shipped in bulk in tanks and requiring heating on discharge to allow pumping out.

Excessive heating will cause deterioration. The further manufacturing process will eliminate minor contaminations but salt water with molasses produces a corrosive compound which could affect steelwork structures if not thoroughly washed down with fresh water.
