Description

Calcium bromide is the calcium salt of hydrobromic acid with the chemical formula of CaBr2. It is a white powder or crystals, odourless, sharp saline taste, very deliquescent, reacting with water to form the hexahydrate.

Application

It is mainly used as dense aqueous solutions for drilling fluids. It is also used in neuroses medication, freezing mixtures, food preservatives, photography and fire retardants.

Shipment / Storage

Calcium Bromide is generally packed in fibre drums or PP bags lined with PE bagging. If drums are damaged during transit, the commodity may cake and eventually form large blocks. May also be slightly discoloured, freely deliquescing and contaminated, as moisture is absorbed from the air with great avidity. This may result in a depreciated value.

Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials.
